Terms of service
Last updated
These terms govern your use of the Miletus website and learning service. They form an agreement between you and HL Tech Consulting, based in Queensland, Australia (“we”, “us” or “our”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the service.
Eligibility and access
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. Miletus is for individual learning. Access to the learning service currently requires an invitation, and invitations may be subject to single-use restrictions.
The service is currently offered as a free beta. We do not collect payment details or charge a subscription. If we introduce paid features, we will explain the price and any additional terms before you choose to purchase them. Using the free service does not authorise future charges.
Your account
Provide an email address you control and keep your account information up to date. Keep sign-in codes private and do not share or resell your account. You are responsible for your use of the service and for taking reasonable steps to protect access to your email and account. Contact team@miletus.app promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
The learning service
Miletus uses AI and other software to assess knowledge, suggest learning directions, create quests and lessons, provide tutoring and schedule practice. Questions, explanations, feedback, grades and recommendations may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Use your judgement and verify information before relying on it for an important decision.
Knowledge and mastery estimates reflect limited learning evidence. They are not qualifications, certifications or guarantees of competence or a particular outcome. Miletus is not an accredited educational institution. Its content is for learning and general information, not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use the service unlawfully or submit content that infringes intellectual property, privacy or other rights. Only share information you are entitled to provide.
- Attempt to access another person’s account, private data or parts of the service you are not authorised to use.
- Introduce malicious code, interfere with security, overload the service or bypass authentication, invitation requirements or usage limits.
- Use automated access to extract the knowledge tree or learning materials in bulk, reproduce the service, or resell access without our written permission.
- Misrepresent AI-generated material or learning estimates as an accredited qualification or an endorsement by us.
These restrictions do not prevent you from exercising rights that cannot be restricted by law, requesting a copy of your personal information or reporting a security issue to us.
Your content and privacy
You retain any ownership rights you have in the answers, messages, notes and other content you provide. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and transmit that content, and to generate and display responses, only as needed to operate and provide the service to you. This includes processing by the hosting and AI providers described in our privacy policy. This permission does not give us ownership of your content or permission to publish it for advertising.
The privacy policy explains the information we collect, how AI processing and personal memory work, the providers involved, and how to request access, correction or deletion. The licence above lasts only as long as needed for those service purposes and the retention described in that policy. Please avoid submitting sensitive or confidential information that is unnecessary for your learning.
Our materials and generated content
The Miletus name, branding, software, website and curated knowledge tree belong to us or our licensors. Subject to these terms, you may use the service and the learning material made available to you for your own personal learning, including developing skills for work. You may keep personal study notes and copies of material provided to you. This does not transfer ownership of the service or permit bulk redistribution or resale of its materials.
AI-generated material may not be unique, and similar material may be produced for other users. We do not promise that every output is eligible for intellectual property protection or free of third-party rights. Third-party materials remain subject to their applicable rights and licences.
Availability and changes to the service
As a beta, the service is still evolving. Features and usage limits may change, and access may be interrupted for maintenance, provider failures, security or other operational reasons. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature will remain available. These statements do not limit your statutory rights.
We may change or discontinue features for reasonable product, technical, security or legal reasons. Where a change materially reduces the service available to you, we will give reasonable advance notice where practicable. You may stop using the service at any time and request a copy of your personal information or account deletion.
Suspension and ending your account
You can stop using Miletus at any time. To request account deletion, contact team@miletus.app from your account address. Data retention, including the difference between removing a memory and deleting an account, is explained in the privacy policy.
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, abuse, a security risk or a legal requirement. We may close an account for a serious or repeated breach, or if we discontinue the service. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason, give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Urgent security or legal concerns may require immediate action. Contact us if you believe a decision was made in error.
Consumer rights and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Any limitations below apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not override those rights or remedies.
Subject to those rights, we do not give additional warranties about the accuracy of AI-generated material, uninterrupted availability or suitability for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when entering this agreement. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service, legal requirements or security needs. We will update the date above and notify account holders of material changes by email or a prominent notice in the service, with reasonable advance notice where practicable. Changes apply prospectively from the effective date stated in the notice. If you do not agree, you may stop using the service and request account deletion before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance, except where the law requires express agreement.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. This does not deprive you of mandatory protections or rights to bring a claim in another jurisdiction under applicable law. Please contact us first if you have a concern so we can try to resolve it; doing so does not prevent you from seeking a legal remedy.
If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent possible. A delay in enforcing a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
